Princess Minzi was the daughter of the King and Queen of the Vale.  Despite the luxuries she enjoyed within the castle, she craved adventure in the lands beyond.

One day she left the castle, determined to find adventure, little knowing of the dangers beyond the castle walls.

She walked and skipped and ran through the surronding gardens until she came upon the paths of the Metal Giants that stood before her and the great green lands beyond.

Never realising the danger that the metal giants held, Princess Minzi stepped fourth onto their path.  Out of nowhere a Metal Giant appeared running right at her!

Never caring, never stopping, the Metal Giant ran right over poor Princess Minzi.

The dark haired princess lay at the side of the Metal Giant path, shocked and crying, not knowing what to do.  Her back hurt and she couldn't put weight on her leg.

With great strength and courage she began to drag herself home.  After 6 days of struggles, she finally found her way back to the castle, only to find the castle doors locked, and the King and Queen absent.

Hungry and thirsty she lay down to wait.

After what seemed like hours, the Kings chariot arrived.  Seeing his princess at the gate, the King rushed from his chariot and grabbed Princess Minzi into his arms.
"Minzi," he exclaimed, "Where have you been? No, never mind that now, let’s get you food and drink."

The King rushed the Princess to the castle kitchen and had food and water brought to her.

After she had had her fill, Princess Minzi tried to move off, but her leg still failed her.

"What this?" the King exclaimed, "Quick, we must seek the physician immediately.”

The King sent word ahead to the Physician and minutes later the Kings carriage was thundering on its way.

The Physician prodded and poked the Princess checking her from head to toe, until he turned to the King and said “The injuries are severe my lord, beyond my powers to heal.  I can take the pain away but nothing more. You will need to see the Barber Surgeon to remove her leg.”

“Never,” cried the King, “Surely there is more we can do?”

“There is only one person that can help you my lord,” replied the Physician, “That is the Surgeon of Londinium, but he will demand more gold than is in your Kingdom.”

The Kind brought the Princess back to the castle and left her resting in her room.

“Surely there must be something we can do?” he cried.  Then he saw the Morse code message machine.

Tapping out flashes of light to every surrounding kingdom he asked simply “Princess Minzi needs surgery. Please help.”

Soon messages of light were flashing across the world, all asking for help for the injured princess.

Back at the castle, like a 1000 winking stars, messages came flying back to the King, “Yes of course we’ll help”.

Messengers were dispatched from Kingdoms far and near, carrying all the gold the Kingdoms could spare.

Within days, the King took the Princess and the gold to the Surgeon of Londinium who promised he would do his best for the Princess.

Hours later, which seemed like days to the King, the Surgeon came back and proclaimed the surgery a success but at a much higher cost than first suggested.

“I know of the struggle you’ve had to raise the gold,” the Surgeon told the King, “And even I must be charitable to our Princess, therefore I cannot find it in my heart to ask for more.”

The Princess was left to rest from her surgery while the surgeon checked her every hour before releasing her from his care.

The King brought her back to the castle, where the messages of light were still lighting the sky, asking word of the Princess.

“The Princess will walk again, thanks to the kindness of you all,” the Kind sent back, before putting the Princess to bed.

“One day you’ll run again my Princess,” the King told Princess Minzi, “But for now you must rest and never again cross the paths of the Metal Giants.”
